Boyd was born on May 19, 1939, in Easley, SC, to a wonderful mother, Lois Spearman and father Robert Fuller.
Dad was predeceased by his parents; older sisters, Avanelle Galloway and Nancy Brewer; twin sister Shelby Gillespie. Younger siblings Joan King; Kay Kiper; and Joey. Second love, Thelma Phillips. Stepchildren Jackie and Jack Elqin.
Boyd is survived by siblings Dale (Gail); Gail Osborne (Phil); children Greg (David); Melissa Harrison (Robbie); Keith; Rodney (James); grandchildren David; Daniel; Kaleigh (Jordan); Kaitlin (Alicia); great grandchildren Landon; Emma; Sofie; Grayson; and many nieces and nephews.
Dad married his first love, Martha Chapman and helped to bring four children into the world, Greg (David), Melissa Harrison (Robbie); Keith; Rodney. He was also blessed with a third son, whom the entire family adopted, cousin Russell Evatt (Angie).
Dad married his second love, Thelma Phillips, who passed on August 12, 2017. Through Thelma, dad gained four more children, Jackie, Jack, John, and Glen Elqin, creating a blended family, and blessing him with more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dad was a simple man; he lived a simple life. He wasn't educated but he was a hard worker and bestowed that quality within all his children, and anyone willing to listen and learn. Dad was a second-generation paint contractor and of course, all his children still paint today. Even a 3rd generation has taken the lead and followed in his footsteps.
The 3rd most important part of dad's life, behind family and work was his Easley Moose Lodge family. This path was likely the most treasured aspect of his life. He held many offices and duties at the Easley lodge. While there, he received the highest honor given to a member, the Pilgrim Degree, which earned him a lifetime membership. Dad gave his all for the Moose Heart Association (home) for children. He also never missed out on giving time and energy towards the Moose Haven Association for Retirees.
Dad was always willing to lend a hand to help a child or anyone in need for that matter. Simply put, dad loved people! He was always willing to help anyone, never did he expect anything in return. We never saw dad mad or mean to anyone. He had a rough childhood, but he didn't dwell on that. He made a better life for himself, our family, and many others.
He grew to love Jesus. Dad was born into a Wesleyan Family and enjoyed worshipping with the Baptist. Later in life living by his 10 commandments, dad never judged others, only helped. His favorite past time was fishing with his Thelma, and yes, even drinking a beer. We will miss our fish fry's!
To have a hero, it would be my dad. I can't fill his shoes, but I'll try. I can't help as many as he did, but I'll try. He never gave up or gave in. He loved living and lived to the fullest. Strokes took over dad four months ago, and a massive stroke took him from us a week ago. Dad, you are missed and always will be, by so many. I'll see you soon as so many others should want to. Enjoy your peace dad. You've earned it.
Love you Dad!
