Cleveland, SC – Mr. Avery Ross DeBoard, Jr., 82, loving husband of the late Lorraine Swick DeBoard, of Cleveland, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Richard M. Campbell VA Nursing Home.
Mr. DeBoard was born in West Chester, PA on May 18, 1938 to the late Avery R. and Burlie Esther Joins DeBoard. Avery served in the US Navy and aboard the USS Yorktown 1956-57. Avery spent many decades as a long haul trucker. He and his wife Lorraine, managed motels for over 20 years together, including mini storage facilities before their retirement. Previously, Avery and his wife lived in Sun City Center, FL before moving to South Carolina to be with their daughter and family.
Mr. DeBoard is survived by a daughter: Gail (David) Musielak of Cleveland, SC. Avery was “Popeye” to: Grandson Dennis (Jessica) Witmer of Huntsville, AL; Granddaughter Amanda (Philip) Roach of Gastonia, NC; Grandson David Musielak of Anderson, SC. Avery is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, Mr. DeBoard was preceded in death by a sister: Evelyn DeBoard.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2021 at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery with U.S. Navy Military Honors.
