Viola Marshallene (Selix) Walker of Phoenix, Arizona, entered into Heaven on March 19, 2018. She was born in Centerville, Iowa, on November 22, 1930, as the youngest child of Floye and Elmer Selix. She grew up caring for horses and the family farm, and graduated from Udell High School in 1946 at the age of 16. On March 20, 1955, Viola married Clyde William Walker and in 1964 they moved with their two children to Mesa, Arizona. They settled in Phoenix in 1972, where she lived until her death. She attended Northwest Community Church for many years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. After raising two children, Viola returned to school in her forties to attend art classes at Glendale Community College pursuing a passion for painting. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her love of animals and all things southwest, and her fun-loving, compassionate, adventurous spirit. Viola is survived by her husband Clyde; her son Gary and wife Becky; her daughter Sharon and husband Rick; her grandchildren: Jessica and husband Scott, Chelsea, and Clayton; and her great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Grant, and Dana. She is also survived by her 102-year-old sister, Xantha Beatrice (Selix) White, several nieces and nephews, and is preceded in death by her brothers: Donald, Lloyd, Francis, and Doyle.
