Sally Ann Jarvis (Esler)79, of Phoenix died March 6, 2016. She is survived by her husband, Mark Jarvis; her children, Brian (Cathy), Becky, and Melissa Jarvis; her grandchildren, Michael Jarvis (Samantha) and Michelle Jarvis, and an adorable great-grandchild, Catherine Jarvis. Sally was born August 29, 1936, daughter of Harry and Ethel Esler. She graduated valedictorian from Phoenix Union High School, then earned a BA (Brigham Young) and MA (Arizona State) in English. After meeting in a chemistry class at BYU, she married Mark Jarvis Dec. 29, 1959. Sally's love of reading, writing and history led her to a long career in writing and teaching. In high school, she was a youth reporter for the Arizona Republic. Later she taught English at many levels, retiring from Paradise Valley Community College. She served in many organizations in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; her favorites were working with the children and publishing ward newsletters for over 40 years. Her desire to learn, love of reading, wit, artistic talents, perfectionism and competitiveness, integrity, and love of animals, especially cats, were all outshone by her love of family. Her family is heart-broken and will miss her terribly. Arrangements by A.L.
