He is predeceased by his mother, Minnie Sharon Sumner; father, Bruce Sumner; and partner, Susan Hope.
Robert enjoyed watching sports and westerns. He also enjoyed dancing, which is how he met his partner of 25+ years, Susan Hope. He was an excellent athlete and popular during his school years for which his family was always proud. Robert was involved in wrestling, swimming, football, basketball, and baseball.
He is survived by his daughter, Meghan Hare (nee Sumner); sons, Nathan Sumner, and Zachary Sumner; stepson, Joshua Hope; granddaughter, Harlow Harrington; grandsons, Hudson Hare and Aron Lev Sumner; step-grandsons, Ari Hope and Evan Hope; brothers, Kenneth Sumner and Bruce Sumner Jr. and sister, Dawn Dee Sumner.
He will be laid to rest next to his partner, Susan Hope, who passed in 2017, at 9:00 AM, Thursday October 6, 2022 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85027.
