Richard A. Green Sr.

Richard was born on December 19th, 1939 in Cameron, West Virginia to Henry Franklin Green and Helen Elizabeth Green. After Richard graduated from Warwood High School in 1958, he joined the Navy and served for four years.

In 1961, while in the Navy, Richard married Judy Lewis who he met in grade school. Richard and Judy moved to Arizona in 1965 to raise their children Rick and Wendy. Rich worked a career in the sprinkler fitter’s union and retired in 1995. He spent most of his time enjoying his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. He was Papa Rich to the neighborhood kids.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories around the camp-fire.

Richard is preceded in death by his father Henry Franklin Green and mother Helen Elizabeth Holcomb.

He is survived by his wife Judy, son Rick [Pamela] Green, daughter Wendy [Danny] Roark, grandson Chris [Amber] Green, grandson Austin [Hailey] Roark, grandson Connor [Jane] Green, granddaughter Marissa [Aaron] Bernhardt and great grandchildren Palmer, Grayson, Rhett, Collins, Sienna and Jack.

The family would like to thank the VAD Unit at The Mayo Clinic for the amazing care and support over the last nine years. Rich was given the gift of time and he was able to see his grandchildren marry and meet his six great grandchildren.

And a special thanks to Hospice of the Valley for the care and compassion they showed Rich in his final days.

A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027, followed by a committal service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
