Michela L’Oréal Kela "KELO" Davis, was born Sunday December 2nd,1984. She was the second daughter born to Carolyn Davis and Michael Davis. On that beautiful Sunday, Kela surprised everyone with her arrival as she was supposed to be a boy. Kela continued to surprise everyone with her exceptional gifts, quick wit and multiple talents.
Kela was a very smart child. She stared elementary at Maxine O Bush and went on to Nevitt Elementary before attending middle school at Future Development Academy. Kela attended Tempe High school, South Mountain High School, and later graduated from International Commerce High School.
One of Kela’s talents included hair braiding, A skill she mastered in childhood and ultiztized to earn a living into adulthood. Kela would spend hours braiding multiple heads per day. Her passion for hair braiding allowed her to connect with numerous individuals and build long-lasting relationships. Kela was the neighborhood braider, and everyone knew where to go to get their hair slayed and laid.
She truly loved making people feel and look good with her craft. Kela also enjoyed rapping and singing, and she loved music. She could come up with a rap or rhyme very quickly. Which reflected her quick-wittedness. Kela had an amazing memory and could remember a number from 10 years ago. Although MS had her body, It never had her brain. She was still so mentally sharp.
Kela had her first child Larmon Michael William Ray (Chunkie) in 2005. He was her everything until the birth of her surprise baby boy, Micquis Lavar-Lashawn Ray (Quisy), in 2009.She loved her boys, but she still wanted a girl. God blessed her with two beautiful twin girls in 2012. Maliyah Lanese-Chamae Ray and Kameyah Jean’Nate-Monae Ray. She was so happy to have twins. She loved her children "SO SO SO MUCH ! "
Unfortunately, after having complications with her MS and life struggles Kela could not provide the care her children needed. Her Uncle Glenn and Aunt Lori Ray selflessly assumed caring and raising her amazing children. We are forever grateful for their sacrifice.
Despite her diagnosis of MS at 21, Kela remained resilient. She enjoyed life with her children and continued working until her MS progressed. It affected her ability to walk when she was 25 years old. Kela spent her days talking to her children, watching her favorite show, Family Feud, with her mother, and 'talking stuff' which made people laugh and smile. We all know how good she was at that. We will never forget how much she loved eating some good food! Kela's spirit remained unbroken. She continued to laugh and love until her untimely passing. She is and will forever live in our hearts and memories.
