Matt Van Petten, age 62 of Scottsdale Arizona, passed away at home on May 9, 2020. He will be buried in Peoria Illinois with his extended family. Matt was born in Wheaton, Illinois in 1958 and graduated from Wheaton Central High School. He spent many years living in the Wheaton area where he built lifelong friendships. He moved to Colorado in 1980 and loved working at Copper Mountain and living in the Rocky Mountains. Matt spent the past 15 years in Scottsdale. He worked at Talking Stick Resort and Casino and enjoyed his friends at work and his local gym. Matt loved the outdoors with his favorite activities being skiing, golfing and hiking.
Matt was preceded in death by his mother Harriet Van Petten, father Robert Van Petten, and two brothers Robert Van Petten Jr. and Mark Van Petten. Matt is survived by his brother, Michael Van Petten and his wife Patricia from Fernandina Beach, Florida, his niece Katharyn Schwalbert and her husband Steven and children Graham and Eli of Huntersville, North Carolina, and his nephew Weston Van Petten of Seattle, Washington.
Matt had a loving and generous soul. He was loved. He will be remembered. He will be missed.
