Born on May 24, 1929 in Texarkana, TX. to Ernia B. Jones and Elbert Jones, Leola met and married Harold O. White. Together, they moved to Arizona and raised seven children. Leola was a lifelong learner. After earning her GED and an associate degree from Central Arizona College, she dedicated her life to nurturing young minds. For 25 years, she successfully ran a daycare business, a testament to her love and compassion for children.
A devoted family woman, Leola went above and beyond to keep her loved ones together. After raising her own children, she selflessly assumed guardianship of her grandchildren, providing them with unwavering love and support. Her generosity extended to all family members, offering shelter, food and a listening ear to anyone in need.
With a passion for nature, Leola took great pride in her beautiful home and garden. Her green thumb was legendary, and her yard was known to everyone in the neighborhood. She often shared her bounty with neighbors, leaving fresh fruit for them to enjoy. A skilled and resourceful individual, she was known to tackle home repairs herself and was a frequent visitor to local hardware stores.
Leola is survived by her loving children Kenneth, Yolanda, Marcus, Eric, and Dwyla, her dear brother Oscar, and a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold White, daughter Gwendolyn White and son Rodney White.
Let’s come together to celebrate Leola’s life on Tuesday December 3, 2024. We’ll honor her memory with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 and a service at 11:30, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix. After her interment at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery (2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix) there will be a gathering of food, fun and fellowship outdoors.
