Kenneth Fred Wright

Ken is survived by his children; Gary Wright, Robin McKay (Charlie), and Tom Wright (Shannon), step-children; Linda Ray (John), Paul Wright (Debbie Jo) and Joyce Williams, along with seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, wife Nancy, and granddaughter Katie.

Shortly after Ken was born, Fred and Nola Wright moved their family from Nebraska to Arizona and then back to Nebraska where he attended grade school through the seventh grade. They moved back to Arizona where he finished his education graduating from Tempe High School.

Ken joined the "new" Air Force in 1949 and was trained in mechanics school. He tested out early and was quickly processed to serve in Japan and then Korea where he worked as a mechanic in a P51 squadron not far from the front lines.

Ken returned from the war and came back to Arizona to marry his high school sweetheart, Helen Louise Hogg in 1952. They were transferred to Great Falls, Montana where they lived for a year. When he was asked to relocate to Greenland, he decided to leave the Air Force and move back to Arizona. He worked loading lettuce in the fields in Arizona for a while and soon got a job working for the Arizona Air National Guard from which he formally retired in his late 40's. After retirement, he enjoyed spending the summer months up on the higher rim country that both he and Helen loved. They moved to Payson where they lived happily until Helen passed in 1997.

While helping a friend do some remodeling in Wickenburg, he met Nancy Wright who shared the same interests as he, and they married after a short time in 2001. He and Nancy loved to travel around with their friends pulling a fifth wheel and boat. They really enjoyed their camping groups and visiting the children and grandchildren all over the country.

Ken was a stranger to no one. If you needed help, he would be there. There was literally nothing he couldn't fix or build, and you couldn't pay him for it. You could always count on him if there was a fishing trip. He loved the outdoors.

Ken was raised by Christian parents who taught him well. He was a believer in Jesus Christ, was an ordained deacon and served the Lord and the Church in all he did. He was comforted to know that all his children came to know the Lord as well as many grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.

A Graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, January 16th at 11am.
