John P. Ledbetter, Sr. was born in Phoenix, Arizona on June 29, 1940 and passed away peacefully on May 7, 2019 with family by his side. John was a dedicated family man and very proud Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa who enjoyed sharing their accomplishments. Admired and well respected by everyone who knew him, he was a man of integrity with a keen sense of fairness who cared deeply for his family and friends. John was an entrepreneur, leader, and formidable business man with an amazing career of over 50 years in the Traffic Control industry. He served on the ATSSA board and was proud to be a certified electrician and educator of future electricians. He was a devoted member of the Sun City Church of the Nazarene and was blessed to travel all over the world.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Olive (Buxton), sister Jacqueline, brothers William, Charles and Robert, and first wife Barbara (Cude). He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Pribbenow); children: John Jr. (Lisa), Lorrie (Al), Corrie (Rick), Monica, and Roger (Lisa); grandchildren: Candace (Eric), Katie (Kyle), Kara (Stephen), Courtnie (Mike), Heather, Matthew (Ryan), Jennifer (Danny), Lauren and Connor; great grandchildren: Emma, Liberty, Scarlett, Jackson and Kelly; and sisters: Betty, Shirley, Barbara.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85027. Viewing will begin at 11:00 am, service will start at 12:00 pm with gravesite service immediately following, and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm a Celebration of Life reception at Valley Luna Mexican Food & Cantina located at 3336 West Bell Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85053.
