Jerry K. Mah, age 82, residing in Scottsdale, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023. Jerry was born on September 27, 1940, in Guangdong, China, lived in Hong Kong, and emigrated to the United States, settling in the Phoenix area. Son of Fred and Lana Mah, he married his wife Marcella in San Francisco, California, on March 11, 1971, and they have three daughters, Patricia, Elaine, and Amanda.
Jerry attended Arizona State University, graduating with a degree in architecture. He worked at the firm of architect Bennie M. Gonzales before starting his own business, Jones & Mah Architects, with partner Wilson Jones in 1971. Their award-winning architectural firm designed projects including The Borgata of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall Expansion and the Encanto Theme Park for Children. Jerry retired in 2007 and spent his time as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as an avid fan of Phoenix sports teams and longtime supporter of the Phoenix Chinese community.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marcella, his three daughters, Patricia (Eric), Elaine (Hwa), and Amanda (Stanley), his grandchildren Delaney, Nathaniel, Finley, Harper, and Miles, and his brothers Dave (Violet) and Stanley (Betty). He is preceded in death by his sister Louise Ng. He is remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009. Visitation is at 9 a.m., and the service is at 10 a.m.
