Jeff was the big brother I always looked up to when we were kids. He was always doing cool things - riding a wheelie down the block on his 10-speed bike, shooting off model rockets, building mini-bikes, getting his own car.  
Some of the memories I’ll cherish most will be of the times our families got together while our own kids were still young. We were fortunate to live close by and for several years got to celebrate a lot of special days, or just drop by to visit. 
You were always happy and wore the biggest smile when with your kids, and later with your grandkids. That’s how I picture you and will remember you best. 
Thanks for being my big brother, Jeff.  I’ll miss you.  Peace to you. 

My heart goes out to and breaks for Julie, Alicia, Justin, Greg, Joey, Autumn and the entire Kilcline family. The sudden loss of Jeff was such a shock and is just starting to sink in. I can’t believe that he’s gone. Jeff was in my life in one capacity or another for 40+ years. First as a classmate and friend then as my Brother-In-Law. For nearly half of my life, he’s been a part of holidays, family functions, vacations and time spent just hanging out. I loved him and will miss him.

He was always such a great spouse, friend and source of moral support to my sister. No matter what, he always had her back…such loyalty and character! He was also an extraordinary Dad to Alicia and Justin, loving Puppa to Joey and Autumn and a true and loyal friend to all that had the privilege to know him. He always made you feel welcome in his home and was genuinely happy to see you when you got together. Always such a calm demeanor and often quiet, but with a quick wit and quirky sense of humor…I can hear his laugh! I will miss that! 

While I’m profoundly sad to have lost him way too soon, I’m thankful to have had the time that we did have with him. Rest in peace my friend…you will be missed, but will live on in our hearts and in our fond memories!


Jeff was my big brother. I will always remember him for his kindness. He always defended me when I was little. When we were older, he refused to let me pay for meals or drinks together. He always took care of Han when we visited, sometimes holding him in the pool for hours when I didn't feel up to it. Looking back, I cannot remember ever arguing with him or even being mad at him. I only realize now how unique that is. You made the world a better place, Jeff. Cheers, big brother.

I’m sorry for the loss of Jeff as he was the leader of the Kilcline pack.  Mr. and Mrs. Kilcline were blessed with 5 wonderful kids and may they find comfort in knowing they did their job.  All of them are great kids and may they pull down the good memories to help them during this sad time.

 My heart goes out to Jeff’s family with his sudden passing. However, there are many beautiful memories that remain.

Jeffrey Kilcline was my son-in-law and a steadfast friend for my daughter, Julie. He was a quiet, loving, loyal man. In our rambunctious and outgoing family, he remained an anchor.

When I first met Jeff, he was a helicopter mechanic. He was enthralled by all kinds of flying. One time he and I left a family gathering to charter a single engine prop plane to fly over the festivities near Lake Michigan. The pilot let him take the controls. Oh how he loved that experience!

Jeff also loved Red Wing hockey and often wore their T-shirts and plaid flannel winter shirts. Other activities that were important to him were: fishing; bird-watching, caring for his family’s cats; building with tools and legos; working on mechanical things including cars; caring for his swimming pool and the family vegetable garden.

I believe his special gift was his love of children. They always received his full attention. Children felt important when he held them, took them on walks, introduced them to new places, and talked to them. His two children, Alicia and Justin, received the benefit of this gift as did his grandchildren, Joey and Autumn. His niece, Ella, and nephew, Jackson, in Arizona loved to visit Uncle Jeff and spend one on one time with him.

Yes, he will always be missed by his family. As we celebrate Jeff’s life in our thoughts and prayers, we will all have happy memories of times shared. Thank you Jeff for all you gave our family. Thank you God for giving us Jeff to enrich our lives.


Its hard to understand why people are taken from us. I hope you remember you have friends who will listen and care...and  I am one of them.

I was blessed with the best big brother.  He was by my side teaching me to crawl, walk, ride a bike, drive a car at 14.  I remember the day my parents moved us into different bedrooms and I didn't think I would be able to sleep.  That might have been my first temper tantrum?, So my Dad hooked up old black phones with a cord that ran along the ceiling to our bedrooms.   I always felt comforted in school knowing he was down the hall.  In the last years he came to my home doing projects.  He bought me all new tools, tried to teach me how to fix things.   He cleaned my gutters, fixed the door bell,  shampooed the basement carpet, built a coat rack etc. He  bought me bird feeders so every evening as he grilled our dinner we could watch them come to my yard.  He loved to share what he knew and still have time for fun.   I would take a nap while he continued working.  His took care of my pets and buried them in my parents yard as He knew it was to painful for me.  We talked about how much fun we had as kids, the thrills we never told our parents.  Every phone call he updated me on Alicia, Justin, Joey, Autumn and Greg. and I would tell him about the birds and bunnies.  He did not want me to worry about him, but I did.  I was looking forward to seeing him this summer.  In my last text message I reminded him of the red sleds we used to race down the hill at the cottage and I wanted Joey to have them so he could enjoy some of our childhood fun.  I wish he could have seen Joey and Autumn grow up with the same close relationship that we shared.  I miss you more than any words can express.

Jeff (Billy, as I called him) was one of the kindest men I ever meant and my friend!! He always had a smile on his face and something funny to say. Jeff was definitely a peace maker. He loved his kids and grandkids to the moon and back. He was always there for you. I think of him everyday and he is sorely missed. I find peace that he has peace now and that we all have another guardian angel. Love and Miss you Billy,   Becky (Amanda)
