Jeanne Dacey, cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home on July 18, 2022. She was just shy of her 96th birthday. Jeanne Dacey was born in Manhattan, NYC on August 10, 1926 to Richard and Flora Collins, the youngest of three sisters. A proud New Yorker, she grew up in Queens and attended Andrew Jackson HS. Jeanne was married to the love of her life, John W. Dacey, for 62 years plus their 7-year courtship that was interrupted for 4 years by WW II. Jeanne moved to west Phoenix with her family in 1961 and lived in the family home for 56 years on W. Myrtle Ave. Jeanne was a homemaker and worked many years for Honeywell; she loved taking craft and writing classes and made ceramic figurines for her children and grandchildren. More than anything Jeanne loved her extended family. John and Jeanne always played music in their home, and loved dancing and sing-alongs. Jeanne attended her kids' events, had a clever sense of humor, was stubborn as hell and wasn't shy about speaking her mind. Later in life she drove seniors to the local senior center and read to her grandchildren's kindergarten classes. At 88, Jeanne could still do the limbo at her granddaughter's wedding reception and take some healthy swings at the family's Christmas whiffle ball game. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband John and daughter Kathleen Stewart (Gary), and she is survived by her remaining 5 children, Jim (Christine), Jeanne Starrak (Jeff), Nancy Dacey (Mike Jones), Patricia Dacey, and John (Julie Ferrell); by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services will be private.
