Hyacinth Jerry Goddard

Mom slipped away yesterday afternoon December 6, 2023 at 5 pm at home under the care of Hospice. After years of living with multiple organ failures, she said she was "Done" with fighting for every breath because of her COPD.

Mom joked though that "the pox is taking me out," because it was the final three weeks of recovering from a raging case of Shingles and pain, that made her decide to go on home Hospice.

She lived a big life and expressed so much gratitude to everyone that knew about her hospice and commented. When I read her the FB posts she said, "This is like having my wake!" She was peaceful and said it was so nice to finally not have to think about every breath in and out, and that the hospice medicine, (to treat pain and anxiety,) made her feel so relaxed. "This is so wonderful she said." When I told her she would meet her hospice nurses soon, she said, "I like my hospice nurse, (me)" She was at total peace and it was an honor to be by her side throughout.

There will be no Arizona wake and mom had made burial plans in Illinois to be laid to rest next to her parents.

Hyacinth is survived by her three children: Hyacinth A. Janecyk and Mark A. Blocker of Illinois and Jennifer Blocker of Glendale, AZ, her grandchildren Melissa, Jessica and Patricia, her great grandchild Natalie, her sister Linda Goddard-Griffin of Indiana and her brother and sister-in-law, "Bill" and Sue Goddard, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Hyacinth was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Goddard from Chicago, IL. She will be laid to rest alongside her parents in Illinois.
