Gladys (Verdun) Lawson. He was their only child. As circumstances would have it, Ernest
was raised by his father's sister and her husband, Stella and Frank Johnson. He grew up
surrounded by many close cousins and attended public school in New Orleans.
Ernest was a devoted Christian his entire life. He retired to Phoenix, Arizona after a full
30-year career in the U.S. Air Force. He was a very proud veteran and spent 23 years as a
radiology technician and supervisor at the Carl T. Hayden VA Hospital.
Ernie, also, was a very proud family man. He was married 56 years to his devoted wife,
Eunice. He managed to raise 5 children while travelling to various parts of the United
States and many foreign countries including, Greenland, Germany, Thailand. The
Philippine Islands, and England.
Ernie loved little children and they loved him back. He was a regular supporter of causes
for children like St. Jude's Hospital and Feed the Children. He was also an avid racquetball
player opting to play with younger guys that would challenge him.
Ernest was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Desert Harbor Assisted
Living Facility, where he resided for the last 11 months.
Preceding Ernest in death were his parents. His aunt and uncle who raised him, his devoted
wife, Eunice M. Lawson, and his oldest son, Andre Lawson, who was serving In the U.S. Air
Force at the time of his death.
Remaining to celebrate time shared with him on earth are his children, Sandra Lawson,
Renee Lawson, Eric Lawson, and Armand T. Lawson; his grandchildren, Alyssia R. Lawson,
Michael T. Strong, Brandon W. Nellis, and Tyler C. Nellis; his sisters-in-law, Earnestine Jones
and Bertha L. Forte; his brother-in-law, Carnie Hayes; his daughter-in-law, Laurie Lawson;
his loving cousin, Janis Jones; close family friend, Devora Moore; and many nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
