Phoenix, Arizona. Ernie was born January 1, 1948, in Port
Huron, Michigan, the son of Vic and Marion (Light)
Haas. He was the grandson of Johann Ernst (Ernie) and
Lillie (Blasius) Haas, and the great-grandson of Rev. John
& Maria Haas.
Ernie was a adventurer, loved the outdoors, exploring and
traveling every road including each and every cow path or
two rut roads. You never knew where you were heading
when you got in the car with Ernie.
Beside a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ernie
was an Eagle Scout, a hunter, a camper, a school teacher, a
creative cook, a writer and poet, a life guard, a JV football
coach and a prospector.
Ernie leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of 45 years, Donna
(Fillman) Haas; daughter Hilary (Patrick) Tolson; son
Andrew; grandchildren Kyler, Teagan and Maleah Tolson;
and a sister Nyela (Jerry) DeJong.
His final wishes were for his loved ones to gather and have
a picnic in a beautiful meadow in the ponderosa pines that
he so loved when weather permits.
