Elnora devoted her life to her family and to the Lord. She continually prayed for her children and aspired to keep them together. Spending time with her daughters, family members and friends, and working for the lord always made her smile. Elnora’s favorite hobbies were sewing, gardening and cooking. During family gatherings she loved making hoecake bread, red-eye gravy, fried chicken, and mint tea. With the Lord’s help, and the assistance of her children and grandchildren, Elnora taught herself to read and write.
Mother Brown served on the Board of Directors for the House of Prayer as well as being Church Mother and working with the Hospitality Department. She received the Grandmother award from the Salvation Army, as well as the Home Maintenance Training award from Urban Housing and Development.
On October 10, 2016, Elnora was called home to walk with the Lord forever. She was preceded in death by her parents Will and Lillie Mae , and her husband Hamilton Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory six daughters, Neomi Thompson, Veoria Williams (Danny), Erma Jean McGee, Lillie Ruth Chatman, Carolyn Thomas, and Anne Johnson (James); three sons, Carl Edward McGee, Terry McGee, and Jerry McGee; god-daughter Mary Haywood; god-sister Aretha Cheatham; 44 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, and 45 great-great grandchildren.
The memories of her will be forever dear to our hearts. She loved us all and we loved her right back.
