Our Beautiful Mother Elena was born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico in 1925 in very humble beginnings and in a time when women were held back to the status quo of a man's world. At a young age, she was a fierce, young lady and was determined not to become a statistic of of her circumstances. She was a woman of impeccable elegance like no other and she never frowned on her situations, but fought to overcome them with unrelenting tenacity and stamina raising seven children mostly on her own who now accompany her in heart and spirit in her last journey to heaven, honoring her amazing life as a survivor, never a victim.
She loved the beauty of flowers and the majestic breezes of a garden. Like two of her grandchildren Valeria & Hector said lately, she tended to her garden as long as her heart could. She is now free to fly with the birds she once kept and loved so much. She loved her children & grandchildren and was a loyal soul. She loved cooking and we cannot remember a day when there wasn't a home cooked, warm meal brewing in her kitchen.
She was a woman of principle and when it came to protecting her children, she was a lioness committed to the ambition of keeping all her children together in one city at her reach and proximity. She did not rest until she accomplished having all of us living in Phoenix.
We pray to God almighty for her soul and her salvation as she lived in faith. At the end of her illness, she forgot everything & mostly everyone, but she never forgot her nightly prayer & her faith. She always understood that eventually she would succumb to her imperfections and that God almighty would claim her as the scriptures dictate that "If we live, we live for the Lord & if we die, we die for the Lord, so whether we live or die, WE are of the LORD. My mother did not fear death or the prospect of her parting, she welcomed & honored it as a badge of honor of her faith.
Now that she has gone ahead of us, we celebrate her life and always will as she leaves behind embedded in our hearts the memories of her extraordinary life. She leaves behind her husband Arcadio Villalobos, her daughters Griselda Cano, Sandra Cano-Bravo, Belia Ramirez & Sonia Cano. Her sons Alberto Villalobos, Alfredo Davalos and Alejandro Davalos. Her grandchildren she loved so Hector Bravo, Valeria Bravo, Carlos Bravo, Albert Villalobos Jr., Selena Villalobos, Arnold Ramirez, Sandy Ramirez, Miguel Lopez, Sonia Lopez, Alex Davalos, Jesus Davalos, Lorena Davalos & Araceli Davalos. She reunites with her granchild Norberto Davalos who went ahead of her. She also leaves behind a number of great-grandchildren too many to list.
Sleep in heavenly peace my beautiful mother of mine until we meet again in the majestic & unearthly heavens of God almighty! We LOVE You Elena Cano Palomares!"
