Dottie M. Scott

Dottie Margaret Scott, 91, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona in the presence of loving family members. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend. She was loved by many and will not be forgotten.

Dottie was born, Dottie Margaret Childers, and raised in Glendale, California by loving parents, Joseph and Margaret Childers. Dottie later moved to Arizona where she married Robert Pottenger and raised a family in Phoenix. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Pottenger, husband Ralph Scott and son, David Pottenger. Dottie is survived by her sons John, Robert and Daniel Pottenger, and daughters Mary and Andra, along with 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Dottie completed nursing school and enjoyed working as a nurse for St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years until retirement. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, entertaining and always providing a warm welcome in her home. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, quilt-making and cooking. She was active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was always willing lend a helping hand.

She will be greatly missed, but left us many loving memories.

A visitation for Dottie will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuaries Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, AZ 85013. A Relief Society Room Gathering will occur Friday, June 30, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15018 N 39th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85053 with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM. The Cemetery Committal Service will occur Friday, June 30, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
