Dorothy grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and later Callao, Missouri. After Dorothy graduated from Callao High School in 1943, she became a “Rosie the riveter” at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Engine Plant. She met the love of her life, Henry, and they were married in Nashville, Tennessee in December 1943, right before Henry went overseas during WWII. After the war, Henry and Dorothy lived on a farm in Macon County Missouri. Over the course of the next 8 years, 1947-1955, 3 sons were born. In 1957, the family moved to Phoenix.
Dorothy worked for Motorola for approximately 26 years. Her retirement in 1991 allowed her to spend more time doing what she and Henry enjoyed – visiting family in Missouri, Utah and Texas, camping, exploring old ghost towns where she found numerous old bottles, rock hunting with her rock hound club, and many other activities. But nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her 5 granddaughters.
A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, a heart of gold, and a life well lived. Dorothy’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew her. Heaven gained a beautiful angel!
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuaries in the Palo Verde venue. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery.
