She was married to Randall Yontz for 29 years before his untimely passing. They had 3 children together. 7 years later, she married Ralph Armstrong. He brought 5 children from previous marriages into her life to also love. They were married for 26 years before his passing. She was loved and cherished by both men, and their children.
Always an elegant and classy lady; appreciated by both friends and family for her ability to listen without judgment, and love without condition. Her favorite and much used phrase was "this too shall pass." Her jobs over the years included secretary for the neighborhood Congregational Church, and Memorial Hospital. She also sold Avon, and clerked at a bakery and drug store.
Dorothy's hobbies included playing the organ, playing pinochle, and loved playing Rummikub! She and Ralph spent many years traveling the world when she wasn't taking care of her mother.
Some of her many charities included Smile Train, Easter Seals, Shriners, Meals on Wheels, and church volunteer work.
Dorothy is survived by her children with Randy; Kathy (Cal) Pepper, Gordon (Dawn) Yontz, and Bob (Jane Mandershield). Between them they have 9 children and 15 grandchildren. Sister-in-law Sherry Naaf, and dear cousins with their spouses were in attendance at her 90th birthday celebration. She is also survived by Ralph's children, whom all became hers, Neil (Lynn) Armstrong, Carol Munzinger, Patti Zielsdorff, Douglas (Georgette) Armstrong, and Eileen Armstrong.
Dorothy has padded through the 'Pearly Gates' with the probable greeting of "well done, thou good and faithful servant." Those of us still on earth are already feeling the pain of her loss, but the gratitude for the gift of this precious woman.
Her intimate family service was held June 29, 2020, and she was laid to rest at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens in Phoenix.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.resthavencarrtenney.com for the Armstrong family.
