Diana was born March 7, 1946 to Rudger and LaPriel Smith. She was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona by her loving parents with brothers Grant, Clayn and Eric. After graduating from Washington High School, she attended Brigham Young University before heading to New York for a job. It was there she met her husband Franklin Curtis Forsberg. It was love at first sight and they were engaged three weeks later. Frank and Diana were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on September 9, 1967. Together they had 6 children and 25 grandchildren.
Diana worked full time supporting them while Frank finished his schooling at Columbia University. Two years later their first child Amy was born followed shortly after by Keith. With two kids in tow Frank and Diana moved to Korea where Frank served in the United States Air Force. After 13 months of service they settled down back in Diana’s hometown of Phoenix with Frank’s job where they had their third child Wendy. Russell, Jessica and then Spencer followed, completing their family.
Diana cherished her role as wife and mother. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her time serving in the Temple. She gave countless hours of service in many positions in the church but had a lifelong love of public speaking. She could teach a lesson or give a talk on a moments notice and make it look as if she had prepared for hours. Diana loved shopping, especially at Wal-Mart. But her most prized possession was her family. She could often be found at a ball game or babysitting or picking up a grandchild from school. She was best known to her grandchildren for her popsicles, pretzels and Sonic runs.
