Clarence A. Espeland, age 90 passed away at the Gardiner Home, surrounded by his four loving daughters on Monday, March 11, 2013. He was born August 30, 1922 in St. Louis, MO. to Norton A. and Anna E. (Wolfe) Espeland. His family moved to PA. when he was 9 months old where he was raised on a farm with his five brothers.
Clarence was drafted into the Army at age 20. He served in the Armed Services during WWII and was honorably discharged on March 12, 1946. He saw the world while stationed in Belgium and Germany, and found a place to call home while stationed in Phoenix. He returned to the Valley of the Sun to raise his family. As a civilian Clarence was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers' Local Union 359. He retired in 1985 from Thomas Heating and Air Conditioning where he was the General Superintendent.
On Sept 1st, 1943 he married Wanda Joyce Burns, together they had four daughters. Clarence and Wanda enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Clarence loved gardening and always had plenty to share with others. He loved the outdoors and could be found fishing or hunting during his free time. He was very proud of his family. He was always there for family and friends, no questions.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Joyce Espeland. He is survived by his daughters: Evelyn Kaide, Kathy Bowman (Larry), Yvonne Downing (Larry) and Judie Warner (Everett), 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, his brothers Boyd Miller and Grant Miller of PA. Clarence was adored by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will held at Phoenix Memorial Park at 200 W Beardsley Rd on March 20th 2013. Viewing and visitation will be held from 10am-11am and Services will begin at 11am with Graveside Services to follow.
