Betty Yee, 100, of Phoenix, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on the 9th of July 2012. Born in Guangdong Province, China in 1912, she began her life in America after her marriage to Harry Shew Yee in 1931. Harry and Betty Yee were the proprietors of the Western Food Market on 35th Ave. and Van Buren until 1968. As a longtime Phoenician, Betty was active in the First Chinese Baptist Church, the Chinese Senior Citizen Association and the Ong Ko Met Association. She was appreciated by all for her hospitality, delicious Chinese cooking and sewing clothes for her children. Her greatest joy was to have the entire Yee clan gathered for family dinners. Betty is survived by her children Howard (Betsy) Yee, Franklin (May) Yee, Lily Wong, Pansy Yee, Harold (Ahn) Yee, Larry Yee, Debby (Paul) Chan, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, her sisters Kim Leung and Anna Yee and, and her brother Hong Shing Yee. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, her son Donald (Brenda) Yee, and her daughter Hazel and husband, John Shee. Visitation will be on Friday July, 13th from 5-8pm at A. L. Moore and Sons, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. Services will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 10am at the North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, followed by entombment at Greenwood Memory Lawn and a celebration luncheon.
