Alexander Alfonso Hubbard, born on August 12, 1942, in Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024 and was surrounded by his loved ones. Alex is survived by his devoted wife Mae, Sister Veronica Beamer, Daughter Alison Bradley, Son Andrew Hubbard and his treasured Grandchildren Madison, Dylan, and Lily Bradley. Also survived by his three Nieces; Kim Hess, Debbie Hunnicutt, and Johanna Carlisle-Zepeda.
Alex attended St. Peter and Paul Church and School in Tucson. He enrolled at Salpointe High School as a Freshman, and was a part of Salpointe's First ever Golf Team. He later transferred to Tucson High School (where he met his future wife Mae), and graduated in 1960. He earned a Golf Scholarship, and attended Arizona State University. He was so proud of the many Competitions/Tournaments won in Golf. Too many to mention! After College, Alex served his Country in the United States Air National Guard - U.S. Air Force before embarking on a fulfilling life.
On May 7, 1966, He married his high school sweetheart Mae Blankenship. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with adventure, Golf, and enjoying countless days Boating on Arizona's lakes.
Alex and Mae welcomed their daughter, Alison Paige, on June 16, 1975, and their son, Andrew Alexander, on December 31, 1978. Family meant everything to Alex. His greatest joy was being a Grandfather! The arrival of his first Grandchild Madison Juliet on September 29, 2004, marked the beginning of a cherished new chapter. He later welcomed Dylan Alexander on July 1, 2009, and Lily Mae on April 21, 2014. His love and support for His Grandchildren was unmatched!
His Grandchildren affectionately knew him as “PAPA”! Alex was a constant presence at Baseball games, Dance recitals, and Gymnastics, always ready to support and encourage his Grandchildren. As a passionate coach, Alex dedicated many years to coaching Andrew's Baseball teams and later shared his love for the game with Dylan. His wisdom and enthusiasm left a lasting impact on ALL of the young athletes he coached, and mentored for years!
In 2024, Alex and Mae celebrated an amazing 58 years of Marriage!
Alex Hubbard was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and best of Friend. His warmth, kindness, and laughter will be deeply missed, and fondly remembered by all.
To celebrate the life of Alex Hubbard , we will be having his funeral service on September 30th at 1 PM at Phoenix Memorial Park 200 W. Beardsley Rd. Phoenix, AZ. 85027.
A Church service for Alex will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1946 E Lee St, Tucson, AZ 85719. Following the Church service will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PMat Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705.
