I just recently learned of Alan's passing.  I did not know Alan as long as most, but I did get to know him.  I was a classmate with Alan after he left Goodrich.  We worked together on getting our 6 sigma greenbelt certification and work towards the black belt.   Alan was a very hard worker and was always concerned about doing the correct thing; he would not compromise his integrity.  He was a good man and has departed way too early.   I have let his other classmates know of his passing as we had tried to get together several times for a drink since our projects were done, but something always came up.   He will be missed.

Alan, you were a kind and thoughtful man. I know you are with the Lord.

I learned of Alan's passing last night from one of Alan many friends and I have to say I was completely shocked and saddened; Alan was my friend. I too worked with Alan at Goodrich over a period of 10 years but unfortunately lost touch which him for a couple years. Alan was a great friend with a gentle soul and genuine personality.  We shared a lot of laughs while working together to solve some tough technical problems. Arlene- please know our prayers are with you and family during this time of deep sorrow.

No words can ease the pain felt by your loved ones.  Your body left us but you remain alive in the memories of all those who shared part of their life with yours.  Thank you for all the memories, advice and for that charismatic smile.  You live on...

In our years at Goodrich, Alan and I shared many an hour talking of life, work, and making things right. In our times in Seattle, Hamburg, Toulouse, and, of course, Phoenix, Alan was, seemingly, tireless in his desire to get the job done and done properly.  When a question was posed or a need was mentioned, he frequently went out of his way to help others. After departing Goodrich, Alan and I emailed a bit and spent many a Saturday afternoon talking about life and work - until finally someone's phone battery or minutes ran out.  I will miss his cheerful greeting and our opportunities to share.

Our hearts go out to you Arlene for your loss of Alan.  We always had a wonderful time with you two when we visited Arizona. Alan will be missed. He was treasured by many as we've read.  Grateful for his time in your life. Love and prayers go with you.

Condolences to Arlene and family...  Alan and I worked side-by-side in the A380 “trenches” for several years.  You learn many things about a man when you're in a high pressure situation for days on end.  Alan was a man of integrity, determination, passion, and kind heartedness.  Regardless of the day we had he would be there to offer advice, provide support, give stock market tips (Gold was his favourite – proof he was a wise man), and generously invite people to Suns games.  The loss saddens me, but I am truly grateful to call Alan my friend.  I wish I could be in Phoenix to attend the ceremony.  My thoughts go out to all that were fortunate enough to know a true gentleman.

I remember Alan from his years at Goodrich.  He was very dedicated and did not backdown from what he thought was right. A man of principle.

Alan and I worked together at Goodrich for many years.  Shortly after I started there I figured out that he was the only person that knew how to operate and troubleshoot the antique test equipment.  He always made himself available to assist and teach me the business.  We did not agree on everything but I was always grateful for his advice and especially when he shared his experiences of growing up in Illinois, his love of fast cars and family life.  I'm deeply sorry for his family's loss and hope they find solace in that he was good and caring friend to many.   He was a generous and thoughtful soul.

I worked with Alan quite a bit during my 8 years at Goodrich. I remember Alan worked long hours and I learned quite a bit from my interactions with him. He always challenged me when I wanted to make a design changes which was the right thing to do. Alan had a BMW that he drove to work and I was impressed by how well he took care of it. He put a cover over it in the parking lot frequently to protect it from the sun. I was not suprised to see the pictures of him with a Corvette which he obviously enjoyed and took care of as well. I was saddened to see he is no longer with us.

Going to a suns game will never be the same again without seeing your smiling face.

I've known Alan since third grade. He was more than a friend, we were like brothers. One of my fondest memories I have is when I was living in Arizona and Alan came out with the intent of buying a corvette. We found his 1974 corvette in Paradise Valley. Alan was my oldest childhood friend. We stayed in touch no matter how many miles separated us, it was like we were never apart. We had recently talked about my coming to see him but unfortunately that never happened. I will truly miss him. My heart goes out to Arlene who was so much a part of his life and I'm so glad he had her in his life. He was truly a lucky man and I am so glad he was part of my life. I'll miss you Alan.

My condolences to Arlene and family.  I worked with Alan at Goodrich for many years.  Alan was a strong believer in doing what was right even if it was not popular.  We shared many lunches together and talked about work and life.  He loved his family and friends and I considered him a friend of mine.

It was a real shock to see Alan's face in the Obituaries today. We worked together at Belcan and he was a great person as well as a great engineer. He gave 110% to his work but you knew his family was most important to him. He will be missed.

I worked with Alan for many years at Goodrich and always enjoyed working with him. He was truly dedicated to his craft and was a credit to his profession. He was always receptive to sharing and discussing, and believe me, Alan and I had lots of discussions over the years. It is truly shocking to hear about Alan. I worked with him, as a supplier to Goodrich, but you couldn't work with him for long without realizing he was a very likeable, dedicated man with a million dollar smile. I know he had a strong faith, and he was crazy about you Marlene; I trust his faith, and his love for you, is a treasure that will comfort you. My prayers are with you.

Alan was the man who gave everything to genuinely solve problems for the benefit of everyone. I had the pleasure of close co-operation with him on development and product support programs for Airbus in his times at Goodrich. The news of the death of this, for me, young man is shattering.

I am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Alan.  I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends in this time of sorrow.  And, may the peace that comes from the memories comfort you now and in the days, ahead.

I worked with Alan during my past employment at Goodrich many years ago.  He was a very bright engineer and very dedicated to his work towards meeting the program objectives.  I enjoyed working with him and he will be missed.
