James Marshall McManus, 84 of Phenix City, Alabama died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday December 20, 2013 at Smiths Station Baptist Church with Rev. David Keys, Rev. Jimmie Hobbs and Rev. Rusty Arnett officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Serving as pall bearers are Jason Pass, Drake McManus, Chad McManus, B.J. Brannon, Barry McManus and Rusty Arnett. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. McManus was born June 16, 1929 in Randolph County, Alabama. He is the son of the late Amos McManus and Lennie Washington McManus. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith L. McManus and his son, Phillip Marshall McManus.
Survivors include his children, Pat Brannon and husband Billy of Phenix City, AL, Mike McManus and wife Karen of Smiths Station, AL, Cindy Bonner and husband Ray of Phenix City, AL, Chuck McManus and wife Molly of Midland, GA, brothers, Murphy McManus and wife Eva of Bremen, GA, Bayward McManus and wife Betty of Jonesboro, GA, sister-in-law Della McManus of Roopville, GA, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
