Cora Phyllis East, 76 of Phenix City, Alabama died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Parkwood Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Ladonia Baptist Church according to Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Blaine Rosier, Bryce Rosier, David Weaver, Josh Weaver, Carey Stokes, Rob Priest, Norman Wise and Rick Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be David Pilgrim, Denny Grimes, Ron Long, Jerald Tew, Charles Tracy, Neil Salivia, George Martin, Don Rineheart, Scott Rhodes, Pete Wells, Pat McGlinsckey, Jack Franklin, Ray Franklin, Bill Edwards.
Mrs. East was born October 25, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia; daughter of the late Howard F. and Clara B. Hill Weaver of Phenix City, AL. She is a graduate of Central High School and Georgia Southwestern with a degree in Nursing. She was a longtime registered nurse at Cobb Hospital. Phyllis was interested in geneology and helped compile a geneology book of all the cemeteries in Russell County with all graves recorded.
Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, William East and her son, Greg Blount.
She is survived by her mother, Clara Weaver, children, Michael Blount (Wendy), Karen Priest (Rob), grandchildren, Taylor, Courtney, Waverly, Cody and Casey; brothers, David Jeffery Weaver (Cynthia) and Howard Ronald Weaver (Susan); nieces, Sunnie Rosier, Melissa Clark, nephews, Josh Weaver and David Weaver.
