Charlie Carson Wimmer Sr.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 1:00 pm in Lakeview Memory Gardens. His family will receive friends, Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Phenix City.

Mr. Wimmer was born, November 3, 1935 in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of William Aubrey and Lilly Maude Wimmer. He proudly served in the US. Army retiring as a Staff Sergeant and later retired from Civil Service at Fort Benning. Mr. Wimmer was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady, Houston, and William, and his sisters, Victoria, Doris, Freda, Joyce, and Barbara.

His survivors include, his wife, Frances Walton Wimmer of Phenix City, his children, Charlie Wimmer, Jr. and wife, Jaye, Rebecca F. Hyatt and husband, Wendell, David Wimmer, and Daniel Wimmer and wife, Sonya. A brother, Tommy Wimmer, and a sister, Norma Wimmer. Grandchildren, Tiffany Crittenden and husband, Robert, Charlie Wimmer III, David Hyatt and wife, Alex, Tommy Hyatt and wife, Tristen, Brittany Wimmer, and Nicole Wimmer. Great Grandchildren, Carter Crittenden, Kailyn Crittenden, Kenzie Crittenden and Emma Hyatt.
