After serving as a medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Samuel went to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston Victoria. He went on to become a hospital administrator in both Port Lavaca and San Benito, Texas, and eventually retired in San Antonio.
During his spare time, he loved being outdoors hunting at El Capote Ranch or fishing at Primo’s Cabin with his favorite people. He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 54 years, devoted his time to catholic ministry, and treasured spending time with his grandkids. Sam was a man who loved both his immediate and extended family fiercely, and he unselfishly shared his time, money, and wisdom with many. He was fearless, and he had a great sense of humor (the stories are limitless). His laugh was contagious, and he had a “Grito” like no other!
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo and Maria Julia Ramirez, and his brother Adolfo Ramirez, Jr.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Virginia “Ginger” Ramirez, his distinguished son, Dr. Samuel A. Ramirez, Jr. (Vyannhe), his loving daughter, Jennifer D. Guerrero (Ricardo), and his cherished grandchildren, Daniel (22), Amry (18), Sophia (18), and Tristan Samuel (10). He is also survived by his six siblings, Jose “Pepe” Ramirez, Leonor “Noni” Ramirez (Reynaldo), Adolfo Ramirez, III “Fito” (Imelda), Graciela “Chela” Longoria (Herbert), Imelda Hernandez (Alberto), Eduardo “Eddie” Ramirez (Pamela), and numerous nieces and nephews whom he considered his own.
