It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janet June Anonby, a beloved soul whose legacy is marked by unwavering faith and boundless kindness. Janet left this world peacefully on April 23, 2024, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
Born on June 5, 1939, Janet's life was a testament to the strength and resilience instilled in her from an early age. Having lived through the end of the Great Depression, she developed a remarkable sense of preparation and prudence, always ensuring her home was a welcoming haven of generosity and warmth. Her storeroom, always stocked with food, symbolized her open-hearted invitation to loved ones to take what they needed, embodying her selfless nature. Janet's passions were as varied as they were enriching. A lover of nature, she found solace in gardening, bird watching, and reveling in the simple joys of the outdoors. The sight of wildlife, the bloom of flowers, and particularly the taste of fresh tomatoes brought her immense pleasure. She shared this love of the natural world with her cherished grandchildren, with whom she spent countless hours playing board games, card games, and delighting in the company of cats. Her intellectual appetites were fed through avid reading, with a keen interest in history and the Bible, reflecting a faith that was both deep and guiding. This faith was the cornerstone of her existence, imbuing her with a strength that was both compassionate and disciplined. Janet's character was a study in contrasts: strict yet tender, traditional yet generous, strong-willed yet incredibly kind. In the years following her husband's passing, Janet's steadfast companion was Jojo, her dog, who she would often share and spoil with meatball subway sandwiches and Dairy Queen. She was a guiding light in her community, always ready with a smile that could light up the darkest room. Her presence was a breath of fresh air, uplifting the spirits of all who had the privilege of knowing her, regardless of her circumstances. To say she was loved is an understatement. Janet was a cornerstone in the lives of many, a sweet spirit who made the world a better place simply by being in it. We find comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her remarkable life.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to The Gardens and A Healing Touch Hospice for their exceptional care and support. Their dedication and kindness have been a source of comfort and peace.
