After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Government Studies from Lamar State College of Technology, Roger attended the South Texas College of Law where he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence on August 19, 1974. He spent 18 years working in private practice before joining the Child Support Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office. As a State Attorney, he remained dedicated to practicing law until the family’s big move to Georgetown, Texas on June 12, 2014.
Although he was reluctant to give up his profession, Roger was fortunate to spend his final years taking part in his favorite hobbies: bike riding, bird watching, and Friday-night karaoke. He also enjoyed flying model planes with fellow members of the Radio Control Modelers Club, and evening golf cart rides with his beloved dog, Huxley.
He is survived by son, Timothy Barras, and daughter, Lindsay Barras, both of Austin, Texas, and wife, Kathy Barras of Georgetown, Texas; his sister, Karen Barras of Houston, Texas, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.aspx
