Raquel “Rachel” M. Castro, 87, of Austin, passed away in Hutto, Texas on Sunday, February 26, 2017. She was born to Jesus and Mariana Martinez in Taylor, Texas but lived most of her life in Austin, Texas.
Rachel was a very loving, caring and generous person. She was a wonderful cook and could whip up a meal within minutes. She was known for her tamales and bean and cheese tacos. Rachel also loved to sew quilts which she gave away as gifts. She will be deeply and dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Juvenal Castro and her son, Adam Castro. She was the last surviving sibling of her family of 10 brothers and sisters.
Rachel is survived by her children, Virginia Raquel Castro, Juvenal Joe Castro, Lidia Elaine Campos and husband Roy, Johnny Daniel Castro and wife Rosie, Jesse Castro and Abel Castro; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother- in- law; sisters- in- law; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Castro, Juvenal Joe Castro, Joseph Campos, Raphael Campos, Chris Cavazos, Thomas Martinez and Robert Martinez.
Family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:0 0pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
