Marlin “Sonny” Edwin Cunningham, Jr., age 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, January 18, 2018. From his birth in Marion, Indiana, to his death in Pflugerville, Texas, he always had time for a story and a laugh.
The first-born son, and middle child, born to Marlin Edwin Cunningham Senior and Agnes Anna (Grünewald) Cunningham in October 1954. Hard working at an early age, Sonny’s path would soon pave his way to his beautiful bride, Lynda Carole (Sipes) Cunningham, married in May 1973.
Sonny’s responsibility to their family started at the age of 16 and 4 years later, they welcomed their son Marlin, followed by their daughter Erika years after. Moving his young family to Texas in 1984, he began his independent distributorship that would cement his name in the community and throughout central Texas. Left to remember Sonny are his wife Lynda (Sipes) Cunningham, his son Marlin (Jodi) Cunningham, Erika (Jameson) Purdy, and five grandchildren: Zoie, Jameson Jr, Kaulton Purdy, Marli and Morgan Cunningham.
He is survived by his mother Agnes Anna Cunningham, sister Barbara (Terry) Stodghill, brother James (Debbie) Cunningham. Preceded in death by his father Marlin Edwin Cunningham Senior, February 2017, and his closest friend John Hillsamer.
