Lowell Stanley Davis passed away on October 27, 2015 peacefully at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 83. He was the youngest son of Howard Franklin Davis Sr and Cora Adaline (Pratt), born February 19, 1932 in Germantown, Ohio. His family moved near Houston and he graduated from high school in San Jacinto, Texas.
Our father was a proud Korean veteran. While stationed in California, he earned an engineering degree at San Diego State University. He married Naomi Jean Davis on September 1, 1955 and had two daughters Carol Jean Davis (Rios) and Constance Marie Davis (Roddy). Mother, the love of his life, passed away on December 5, 2013, they were married 58 years. Early in his career, dad worked outside of Texas but for the most part our family has lived in Texas and he considered himself a Texan. From Houston, dad and mom moved to Austin in 1975. Dad’s wish to pass in his home of 40 years was a blessing. Dad worked at several upper management engineering positions with Tracor, B.J. Hughes, Texas Instruments and Encore Orthopedics. He was a Mason member at the Englewood Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. An avid and talented artist, he passed his art talent to his only granddaughter Amber Marie Rios.
Dad is preceded in death by his wife Naomi Jean Davis, his parents Howard Franklin Davis Sr. and Cora Adaline (Pratt), three brothers Howard Franklin Davis Jr., Carl Monroe Davis and Clifton Dean Davis, Surviving family members include daughter Carol Jean Davis-Rios, son-in-law Fernando Rios, granddaughter Amber Marie Rios, daughter Constance Marie Roddy and son-in-law Henry Wayne Roddy, brother Ralph H. Davis and his wife Virginia, many nieces and nephews and personal friend to the family Robert (Bruce) Johnson.
Carol and Constance wish to express our deepest gratitude to the family members and friends who helped us during this difficult time. All of our father’s brothers’ nieces and nephews contributed to providing comfort to our family in way of calling, visiting, praying and thinking of us. There are just too many to list individually. We would also like to thank hospice and dad’s personal care attendant Alyssa Kelly, who particularly, brought him joy in his last days.
