A Devoted Husband and Protective Father
Larry Lawrence Milligan Sr. departed this earthly life and started his heavenly life on January 12, 2016. His loving wife was by his side at his time of transition. We were reminded that life's sun will indeed set. Life and death is God's promised goal, so trust God's promise and doubt Him never, for only through death can man live forever.
Larry was born on March 20, 1949 in Temple, Texas to the late Sherman L. Milligan and Mary Jewel Milligan. He was the oldest of five siblings raised in Lampasas, Texas. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1967, where he was a member of the choir and track team. Larry continued on to Central Texas College, where he attained an Associates Degree in General Education May 23, 1970. He later acquired several certifications in the Texas Engineering Extension Services program of The Texas A&M University System. Shortly after graduating in 1970, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Nola Mae Aaron. They were blessed with two beautiful children, a son and daughter. Larry was a Dedicated Draftsman for The City of Austin, Public Works and Transportation Division. He retired after 27 years, yet he was unable to stay retired for long, and began working for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission Talking Books Program part time. In 2015 he retired from there when he became ill.
Larry had a passion for Architecture. He loved working with his hands whether it be drafting for a client, fixing or up grading things around the house, or physically building his two-story addition to our home. He was an exceptional Architect. He also had a love for music. You often would find him in his office with his large headphones mellowing out to some Jazz Music. His greatest love and his motivation was the love he had for his family and spending time with them. Whether it be faithfully eating dinner at the table with his wife, kids, and later grandkids. He rarely ever missed a sporting event of his children. He was always by his wife's side at work and family events. Although he didn't always know the right words to say, our husband, our father, our Papa was always there for us.
Larry Lawrence Milligan, Sr. will be forever Loved, and missed.
