Judy was born January 14, 1946 to Robert and Ada Gorham. A lifelong Austinite, Judy graduated from Austin High School and was as an employee of AISD where she worked for nearly 20 years until illness forced her retirement in 2003.
On June 12th, 1965 Judy married Dewey, the love of her life, who would be with her until her last day. They raised two sons, DuWayne and Jason and enjoyed spending time with friends and family at her parents lake house in Granite Shoals,Tx. Judy was a devout Christian and enjoyed the time spent with her church families at First English Lutheran Church and then later in life at Great Hills Baptist Church. Judy was always active in church, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and as a Bible Study Fellowship teacher.
She leaves behind her beloved husband and caregiver, DuWayne “Dewey” Murdock and their dog Daisy; her son, DuWayne Murdock and wife, Shannon of Cedar Park; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Murdock of Pflugerville; her brother, Robert Gorham of Austin; her sister-in-law, Sharion Detwiler of Colorado; her sister-in-law, Valerie Yanssens and husband, Bill of Ohio; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Judy was welcomed into Heaven by her son, Jason Murdock; her parents, Robert and Ada Gorham; her brother, Eugene Gorham and many friends, family and pets who left before her.
The family will receive friends at visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Great Hills Baptist Church with committal services following at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. Pastor Ross Hartsfield will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Judy wished that donations be made to one of her passions, The Gideon International.
