She was born in Amarillo, TX, on August 28th, 1941 to Morris Lee and Lena (Phipps) Estess. Joyce graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, followed by a Master’s degree from the University of Memphis. In her youth, she won an award for being the fastest typist in the state of Texas. She had a successful career in the publishing industry, working for Graphic Sales Associates, as well as many other publishing companies.
In 1962, Joyce met the love of her life, Bobby Gene Greer, who she married in 1963. They were happily married for 42 years, until Bobby’s passing in 2006.
Joyce was passionate about astrology- she was a Virgo- and reading, especially true crime and non-fiction. She also loved animals, especially her fat cat Charlie, her other cat Kitty, and her dog Zoe. All her pets miss her deeply. She also loved to sing; she and her fraternal twin Judy sang in quartets. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, who she loved deeply.
Joyce was preceded in death by her siblings: two older brothers, her twin sister Judy, and her younger sisters, who were also twins. Also preceding her were three nieces and two nephews.
Joyce is survived by her children Judy Greer Louis of Austin, TX, and David (and wife Terese) of Allendale, NJ, and her five grandchildren: Gus, Emma, Sam, Riley, and DJ.
