I sometimes wondered about my brother John and our many differences and if we could possibly have had the same parents.  From a sister's perspective, the following are some of the differences.

He was a keeper/hoarder of things and I'm a throw-awayer.
He married young.  I stayed single (nice way of saying old maid).
He almost exclusively read non-fiction.  He read to learn, not for pleasure.  My reading material is all over the place.
He liked raw hamburger.  Well, you can guess my reaction.
He had good teeth.  Say no more.
He was athletic.  I'm a klutz.
He had some patience.  I have none.
He was mechanical, could fix anything, put anything together, build anything.  I can't fix a damn thing.
He could tell great stories and jokes, and speak in front of anyone.  Give him a platform and he was in his element.  I have stage fright and don't try to tell jokes anymore as they are instant duds.  It's a knack.  I don't have it.

But, then I started to think about our similarities - and I knew we shared the same parents.

We are tall.
We are talkers.
We don't like chicken.  I got that from him.  Short story here.
We are stubborn.
He was smart.  Well, at least I try!
We love animals.
We fought like brother and sister.
We both love family.
We have the same values taught to us by our parents.
Most important, we loved one another.

Dear brother John, to take your advice and "hush" or "shut up", I'm going to do that soon - at least for a few minutes.  And then I will listen for your guidance.  To get my attention, please do the usual - knock your hard head against my hard head.
