He married Henrietta Moran on December 17, 1941 in Rock Springs, Texas. James joined the Army Air Corp where he served state side during WWII. He raised two children, Linda and James. As a dental technician, James provided well for his family.
James loved his Dallas Cowboys and did not miss an opportunity to watch the game. He faithfully watched Texas Rangers baseball. Even as his sight and hearing were failing, he would turn up the game so that the neighbors could enjoy it also. He loved his plants and knew exactly how to take care of each them. His knowledge was vast on too many things to count.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and James; his brothers, Milton, Clarence, Wilburn and Delbert; sister, Evelyn; and his son, James A.
James is survived by his wife, Henrietta McKenzie; his children, Linda Holden and Alan Holden; grandchildren, Aimee Cain and Joe Holden; great-grandchildren, Travis Holden, Garrett Holden, and Vance Holden. James is also survived by his brother, Wayne McKenzie and wife, Annette McKenzie; sister, Eileen McAdams; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019, in The Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The committal with military honors will follow.
