A native Austinite, Greg’s passion for dance and the performing arts, in general, inspired his successes, sparked his relationships, and fueled his character. He performed with Austin Civic Ballet (predecessor to Ballet Austin), Austin Ballet Theater, Ballet Austin, Zachary Scott Theater, and Zilker Hillside Productions. He was Artistic Director of Austin Contemporary Ballet (1993-1997). He also lent his choreographic talents to various dance companies as well as several productions of Austin Lyric Opera. He was a beloved dance instructor who entertained and inspired with the widely popular ballet fitness courses he led for Ballet Austin and Body Business Fitness Club. In addition to dance, Greg was also active with the nonprofit agencies Conspirare and People’s Community Clinic; Texas Department of Public Safety where he worked for over 30 years; and finally, and most recently, as founder of his own company, Candle Daddy ATX.
It is said, once a dancer always a dancer, and Greg’s dance experience became the foundation that informed everything he did and cared about in life. Art represents the beauty in all of us so it is fitting that we remember Greg, the artist, who’s beauty transcended the stage in the love and kindness that will remain with all of us.
He is preceded in death by his mother Marie Blomquist Easley and his father Grady Marion Easley. He leaves behind two older brothers, Russell Easley (New York) and Steve Easley (Pflugerville), his niece Stephany Easley, his nephew Stephen Easley, sisters-in-law Shelley Easley and Eve Bryant, his husband and forever love, James Allan Bryant, and the light of his life, his son Davis.
