She graduated from Emile High School in Bastrop, Texas. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Creek, Texas under the direction of Late Rev. Henry Hill. Later she went to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Roy F. Jones II. She was a faithful member until her death.
She worked at Travis State School for several years and later became a dispatcher for Harlem Cab, where she met and later married Karry Barrs, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Coleman; grandson Robert Coleman III, and 4 brothers, Sephus Flemings, Jr., E.V. Flemings, Lloyd Earl Crathers and Soloman Crathers, Jr.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, Annie Louise Sorrells (Tyrone) and Cynthia Kirkwood (Nakia); four sons, Willie Earl Collins, Odell Collins, Karry Gene Barrs and Ray Anthony Barrs. She also raised her two grand-daughters Alicia Sword (Teddy) and Ashika Carter (Keith); six grandchildren, Melisha Sorrells, Cassandra Sorrells (Reese), Crystal Sorrells, Johnny Lee Turner Jr., Nakisha Kirkwood and Kierra Kirkwood; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Bobbie Williams of Cedar Creek,TX, Louise Williams, Alice Jean Smith, Ruthie Mae Scott, all of Bartlett, Texas; Frank Crathers of Temple, Texas and James Crathers of Bartlett, Texas, and step-mother Lola Mae Crathers; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 07, 2013 from 1:00pm - 6:00pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 08, 2013 at 1:00pm in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
