Doris was born August 1, 1933, in Priddy, Texas to parents Edgar Grelle and Arvis "Susie" Morgan Grelle. She was married to Jeff (M.J.) Butler for 56 years. She was the mother of four children; Susan, Trisha, Daniel and David who preceded her in death. Doris operated a daycare from her home for many years. She loved planning and decorating for the holidays and celebrating with home cooking and family. Doris enjoyed playing games around a table of family and friends. She was especially fond of the domino games Forty-two and Shoot the Moon. Her favorite hobby was sewing and quilting. She gifted a unique quilt to each of her children and grandchildren as a keepsake to remember her by. Doris adored gardening and her flower bed was always filled with Easter lilies, irises and flowers of many colors. She always looked forward to the Grelle family reunion every summer when she could catch up with beloved aunts, cousins, and other family members.
Doris was a devout member of Northwest Baptist Church for many years. She worked in the church's daycare center and sang in the choir. She enjoyed preparing many meals for church celebrations as well as funerals. Doris loved her church friends.
