Antonio Medrano was born in Hobbs, Texas in 1936. He was one of fourteen children born to Alfredo Medrano and Carlota Mijares- four boys and ten girls. Tony passed away on April 30, 2023 in Round Rock, Texas at the age of 86.
Tony is survived by his loving wife Guadalupe Medrano, to whom he was married for 64 years. They were married at St. Stephens Catholic Church in August of 1958. He is also survived by his three children: Michael, Laura, and Linda; six grandchildren: Cereese, Anthony, Melinda, Monica, Michael Jr., and Callie; and five great Grandchildren: Noah, Luke, Kaydence, Griffin and Katie Belle. He is also survived by his sisters Janie, Mary, Margie, Barbara, and Carolyn.
His love of his family prompted a recent move out of Houston, Texas to Georgetown, Texas. The move was intended to be closer to family he loved so greatly. The last year of his life was full of visits from all his children- great, grand, and immediate. In recent history, when asked about his move, he responded that he was very happy that he had done so.
Tony served in the armed forces. His was drafted and enlisted in the Army. He served with an artillery unit where he achieved the rank of SP4. In his time with the Army, he was stationed throughout the United States and overseas in Korea.
After his time in the military, he returned to Houston. After being a supervisor at Wilson Industries for several years, he joined forces with his brother-in-law Joe Rodriguez to begin a successful business called Quality Welding & Boiler Works, where he worked until he retired.
He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Houston and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed a wide variety of music, and in his lifetime, he collected a massive amount of music from all genres. His favorite hobby was making personal CDs for his friends and family. His favorite vacation for several years was going to Tucson, Arizona to attend the three-day Mariachi Festival. He also enjoyed going on cruises, cooking BBQ, and having parties with family. He loved to sing while friends and family played the guitar.
Tony has had numerous friends throughout his life. During his time at Wilson Industries, he loved welding unique coffee tables and candleholders, which he would give away to anyone who said they liked them. He also built many BBQ pits for friends and family.
A visitation for Antonio will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, also at Cook Walden Capital Parks, followed by a graveside service at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
