8 October 1959 to 16 April 2023
After a long and courageous fight with leukemia, we are saddened to announce the passing of Warren Bradley Davis. Born on October 8th 1959, Warren grew up in the Peterborough area, attending Grove Elementary and Crestwood High School, before earning his Honours Degree in Arts at McMaster University. While growing up, he worked with local farmers, provided support to the disabled in Hamilton, and tree planted in Alberta and British Columbia. In the summer of 1983, Warren was attending French lessons in Montreal, Quebec when he met the love of his life, Denyse Lamontagne, who was visiting for the summer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Warren and Denyse travelled back and forth to see each other before eventually settling down in Peterborough and marrying in the fall of 1989. Throughout that time, Warren apprenticed in silk screening and sign painting before opening his sign and printing business in 1988: Zeebon’s Signs. Warren took pride in his work which brought years of success to the business. Throughout his life, Warren volunteered with many local organizations including the United Church and Camp Quin-Mo-Lac, and was an active member in his community through the Kinsmen Club of Peterborough and the Peterborough Sales and Ad Club. Warren was a kind and caring man who loved working with his hands, learning new topics and sharing stories, adventuring and being outdoors, watching movies with family, and playing underwater hockey with the Peterborough Pikes.
Warren loved so many and was loved by so many. He will be deeply missed by his wife of thirty-three years, Denyse, his daughter Renée, his son André, and his little dog, Freeway. He was truly loved by his parents, Marion Davis (Lee) (1929-2000) and Ron Davis (1927-2016), as well as his step-mother, Joan Davis (Clark Leggett), and will be fondly remembered by his sisters Denise Davis Taylor and Andrea Davis McNeil, as well as his brothers-in-law, Lawrence Taylor and Michael McNeil. He was loved by his in-laws, Jeannine Savoie (1935-2020) and Philippe Lamontagne (1932-2011), and will be missed by his family-in-law, Michelle and Shawn Allen and Lisette and Tony Messervey, and Pierre Lamontagne. Warren will be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, the friends of his children, and all those who knew him.
Anyone who wishes may join us for a Celebration of Life ceremony in Warren’s honour at 1:00pm on May 6th at Providence Farm (2032 Providence Line, Otonabee South Monaghan, 2 kilometers south of Highway 7 on the west side). The ceremony will take place outdoors.
Thank you to the staff at the Peterborough Hospice, the Peterborough Regional Health Care Centre, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, the Ottawa General Hospital, and the Kingston General Hospital for their loving care over the past two years.
For those who would like to donate, please do so to the charity of your choice. Some suggestions include the Peterborough Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Foundation, Canadian Blood Services, Camp Quin-Mo-Lac, and the Kinsmen Club of Peterborough. Blood, platelet, and stem cell donations greatly prolonged and improved Warren’s life. If not one already, please consider becoming a donor in his honour. Visit Blood.ca for more information.
