SISTER MARY DRISCOLL Of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on April 15, 2022. Mary Helen was born in Peterborough in 1941, the daughter of the late John Driscoll and his wife Brigid McMurray. Mary entered the Sisters of St. Joseph Community in Peterborough in 1959 and received the religious name of Sister Mary Brigid.
Sister Mary is survived by her sisters, twin Marilyn Driscoll, Patti (Roger) Calvert, Sister Joan Driscoll csj, Beverley (Joseph) Maloney and sister-in-law Linda Driscoll.
Sister Mary is predeceased by her brother John Driscoll.
She is lovingly remembered and will be missed by the members of her CSJ religious community, her family and many nieces and nephews.
Sister Mary ministered as a registered nursing assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital Peterborough, Marycrest Home for the Aged and St. Joseph’s Hospital Parry Sound. She loved her work caring for the elderly. She was next assigned nursing duties in the Mount St. Joseph Infirmary along with other Community services and general assistance. She also worked in Food Services at the Mount. Sister Mary later was able to engage in family ministry with providing care and support to her parents in their home. Upon her return to Mount St. Joseph, she was of great help in assisting the sick and accompanying Sisters in appointments, prayer and visiting. She did many acts of kindness for those who needed her assistance.
Sister Mary will be remembered for her cheerful spirt of joy and hospitality as well as her gentle kindness to all she met. She loved a good bargain and was famous for her home-made note cards.
Public Visitation will be at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St., Peterborough, ON K9H 4C7 on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 3:00-6:00 p.m.
A private wake service for the Sisters will be held in St. Joseph’s Motherhouse Chapel Wednesday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Mount St. Joseph Chapel. Interment at Highland Park Cemetery, Peterborough.
