Peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on October 28, 2013 in his 81st year surrounded by family. Survived by his wife Joyce (nee McNevin) of 29 years, and predeceased by his mother Frances (nee Bennett) and father George Royal. Lovingly remembered by his children Hugh (Peggy), Linda Gordon (Dave), Steve (Alicia), Doug (Patti), stepchildren Susan Hornbeck (Terry) & Debbie Barkley (Burt). Cherished by his more than 40 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, with 3 more on the way.
Beloved brother to Hugh (Sandra) and Louise Roberts and proud uncle to Jane and Shirley.
Samuel loved the peace of the outdoors at his home on Elbow Lake (Parham, Ontario). During the winter he would enjoy his time at his home in North Fort Myers, Florida.
Samuel was very proud that he worked for Ontario Electrical for 48 years & 1 month, prior to his much deserved retirement.
Samuel was a long standing member of 39 years with the Royal Canadian Legion branch 425, where he enjoyed spending time with family and good friends.
Please join family and friends at Comstock Funeral Home, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, for visitation on Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, October 31st, 2013 at 12 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior.
