In her 93rd year, Myra passed away in her sleep at St.Joseph’s at Fleming Nursing Home, Peterborough on Saturday, August 30, 2014, cherished mother of Heather Thompson (husband Guy) of Peterborough, Ontario, Harley Chadwick (wife Constance Couch) of Kingston and Audrey MacDougall (husband Gary) of Yellowknife, N.W.T. Grandmother of Niall Davidson (wife Leigh Trusler), Colin Davidson (wife Martha), Haley Chadwick (partner Geoff Alguire), Debbi Chadwick Small (husband David), Karla Reid (partner Gerry Ovington), Kelsey, Ian and Alexander MacDougall. Great-grandmother of Benjamin, Noah, Sadie, Megan, Kyle, Tyler, Haley, Dalton, Quinton, Parker, Angelina, Mya and Lincoln. Predeceased by her parents James Hickey and Annie (Abbott), sisters Phyllis and Luella, brothers James, Charles and Elmer. Myra was born and raised in Darnley, Prince Edward Island. During WWII she married William Chadwick, moved to Winnipeg and eventually settled in Montreal to raise their young family. Myra moved to Peterborough in 1973. One of her greatest joys in life was being able to sing in the Trinity United Church Choir, which she did for over 30 years. Myra was a wonderful baker-her kitchen was filled with the scent of rising dough, freshly baked bread and cinnamon rolls which were in turn sold to raise money for the local United Church. Myra was also an avid alley, carpet and lawn bowling champion and an active participant at Activity Haven. She worked for MDS labs for 18 years. After Myra retired, she remained active in the community, travelled extensively and enjoyed many great times with her grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 2:00 -3:00 p.m at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, Ontario, 705-745-4683, followed by the Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel. Inurnment to follow at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church Choir, Peterborough Lawn Bowling Club and Doctors Without Borders.
