Helen Alice Gibson

Passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario with family by her side in her 98th year. Daughter of the late Richard Percival Wellman and Mary Isabel Huffman. Predeceased by her dear husband Kenneth John Gibson. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Mary Mackay (Karl) and Carol Lee Ross (Glenn). Treasured Nana of Robert Mackay (Jenny), Katie Baldwin (Mitch) and Kenneth Ross (Sarah Wood). Adored Great Nan of Ben, Ethan, Evi and Emma. Cherished sister of Jacqueline Wellman and the late Earl Wellman. Predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ernest Gibson (Helen), Earle Gibson (Marguerite) and Ethelwyn Thomas (Norm). Much loved by nieces Sue Jones (Tom), Barbara Entwistle (Dave), Shirley Houlden (Wayne) and nephews Doug Wellman (Linda), Jim Thomas (Betty), Ron Thomas (Debbie), Tom Gibson (Bonnie) and the late Jack Gibson. Fondly remembered by her many great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, Ontario, 705-745-4683. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation prior to the service from 12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 360 Reid Street, Peterborough, Ontario. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society or the CNIB.
